Problems in the cloakroom! My suitcase is not too big, but it’s too heavy! So it was rejected for “Health and Safety Reasons”. The bit about the health has to do with the fact that no part of the counter can be lifted or removed, so the people (I wonder how they get behind the counter in the first place) would have to lift every piece of luggage across it, and things weighing more than 10 kg would be bad for their backs. They recommended I go to one of the tube stations that has lockers, as suitcases are forbidden in the museum. From my experience with German officials I know that often you get a different answer when you ask a second person. So I went in the direction of the exit to ask another guard if I could take my suitcase along to the 9th floor where I wanted to visit the Japanese exhibition.
